Jill Scott, LL Cool J, The Roots and more set for 2017 Jazz in the Gardens festival

The headliners and performers for the 12th annual Jazz in the Gardens music festival were announced Wednesday and the lineup includes a mix of jazz, r&b and hip-hop acts that have become a staple for the event.

The two-day festival will include a mix of new stars and old-school acts headlined by Jill Scott on Saturday and LL Cool J featuring DJ Z-Trip on Sunday. The other Saturday performers include: Robin Thicke, Herbie Hancock and Morris Day and the Time performing with the Jazz in the Gardens All Stars, a group made up of Will Downing, Chantae Moore and Marion Meadows.

The other Sunday artists include: Andra Day along with Common and The Roots. The festival is expected to add many more artists to the lineup, including several local performers, in the coming months and it will be hosted by comedian Rickey Smiley. Some of this past year’s headliners included Charlie Wilson, Usher, Janelle Monae and Babyface.

Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Dec. 2 at jazzinthegardens.com. The festival takes place March 18 and 19 at Hard Rock Stadium.
