{"id":2357,"date":"2018-03-14T12:34:19","date_gmt":"2018-03-14T16:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jazzinthegardens.com\/?p=2357"},"modified":"2018-04-04T12:35:51","modified_gmt":"2018-04-04T16:35:51","slug":"anita-baker-to-say-farewell-at-jazz-in-the-gardens-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jazzinthegardens.com\/firstact\/2018\/anita-baker-to-say-farewell-at-jazz-in-the-gardens-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Anita Baker to say farewell at Jazz in the Gardens festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The final South Florida performance by Grammy-winning R&amp;B singer Anita Baker is just one of many reasons to find your way to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southflorida.com\/events\/spotted\/sf-jazz-in-the-gardens-photos-20170319-photogallery.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jazz in the Gardens<\/a> this weekend at Hard Rock Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Baker is among the featured performers at the 13th annual festival, along with <a title=\"Chaka Khan\" href=\"http:\/\/www.southflorida.com\/topic\/entertainment\/music\/chaka-khan-PECLB00000060967-topic.html\">Chaka Khan<\/a>, Smokey Robinson, Joe, Fantasia, Trombone Shorty, Avery Sunshine and the JITG All Stars.<\/p>\n<p>Miami rapper Trick Daddy also will perform, as will throwback acts including Salt \u2019n\u2019 Pepa, Kid \u2019n\u2019 Play and Biz Markie. The Miami-based A. Randolph Band will serve as the JITG house band.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by charismatic comic and radio personality Rickey Smiley, the festival is expected to attract more than 70,000 fans to Miami Gardens on Saturday and Sunday, March 17-18, for music, art vendors and an array of fare from local restaurants in the food village.<\/p>\n<p>The weekend begins with a separate 8 p.m. Friday opening-night party featuring the S.O.S. Band. Opening-night tickets cost $35 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jazzinthegardens.com\/night\/\">JazzInTheGardens.com\/Night<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Baker, 60, announced in January that she will retire from performing after a handful of shows that include her Jazz in the Gardens appearance on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Best known for the singles \u201cSweet Love,\u201d \u201cBody &amp; Soul\u201d and \u201cJust Because,\u201d Baker had four albums reach No. 1 on Billboard\u2019s Top R&amp;B\/Hip Hop Albums chart: \u201cRhythm of Love,\u201d \u201cGiving You the Best That I Got,\u201d \u201cMy Everything\u201d and \u201cRapture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Baker is among the headliners at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, which begins April 27.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When: <\/strong>Saturday-Sunday, March 17-18; gates open at 3 p.m. each day, with music beginning at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where:<\/strong> Hard Rock Stadium, 347 Don Shula Drive, Miami Gardens<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost:<\/strong> Single-day tickets purchased in advance cost $69 for general admission, $86 for reserved seating; advance two-day passes cost $96 for general admission, $134 for reserved seats.
